Friends Forever - To The Class of ‘07

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Vitamin C - Friends Forever

Yesterday and today, thousands of kids from all around my area graduated high school. I wanted to take this chance to wish them the best of luck in their future lives, with the classic “Friends Forever”. No matter where we go in life, our time in high school has had a profound influence on us, and we will remember these people we grew up with for the rest of our lives.

This post is dedicated to a good friend, whose graduation I was prevented from attending by my evil overseers. My apologies, I hope you can forgive me.

As we go on,
We remember
All the times we
Had together

And as our lives change
Come whatever
We will still be

Friends forever

Oasis - So Much More Than Wonderwall

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

When I say Oasis, you say…

If you said “Wonderwall”, you’re missing out on so many great facets of this awesome band. There’s a reason they’ve got a bajillion albums and millions of fans, and it isn’t a single. Here are some of my favorites that aren’t Wonderwall.

Don’t Go Away

Champagne Supernova
This is a personal favorite of mine. The acoustic version is pretty amazing as well.

D’You Know What I Mean?
Badass video.

And, yes. We’ve made it through an article about Oasis without seeing or hearing Wonderwall.

It’s Hot And I’m Getting Thirsty

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Summertime is kicking into gear, and man, I am in need of some serious liquid. Something cool. Something smooth. Something that just flows. For all of you who are feeling the need for a little liquid, check this out. It will quench your thirst.

There’s smooth. Then there’s liquid smooth.

Evanescence - Amy Lee Still Rocks

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

Though I may be loathe to admit it, I’ve been a fan of Evanescence for a long time. I bought their first album just days after it hit the shelves, but my interest since then has waned. I think it had something to do with a girlfriend of mine from middle school liking them a lot, then she went to a different high school and that music kind of reminded me of that life which was something I was moving away from at the time. But that’s just a theory.

Regardless, Amy Lee still has one of the most beautiful voices in the rock world. She is definitely the best woman voice anywhere close to the top of the rock charts.

Here are some of their older videos, with one or two new ones mixed in.

Going Under

Seriously the most bad-ass video ever.

My Immortal

Call Me When You’re Sober

Everybody’s Fool

Hinder - Not Exactly The Happiest Band Ever

Monday, May 21st, 2007

Hinder really does pack a lot of cheap emotion into their songs. *sigh* I just say that. I can tell why so many people like them so much. I personally don’t really, really like them, but damn can they make a dude tear up if it happens to be the last song that he danced with the girl of his dreams to.

Lips Of An Angel

There was a contest for a video for “Better Than Me”, Hinder’s second single. Here’s the winning entry.

Better Than Me

Mindless Self-Indulgence

Friday, May 18th, 2007

I found this band on FFR, and couldn’t get enough of their music. The rock-metal tones with that bit of electronica coupled with the sweet beats just had me hooked. I also like the name and their videos a lot.

Straight To Video

Shut Me Up

They also kind of frighten me. Which is an interesting effect for music…

Summer is almost here!

Jose Gonzalez

What the heck?!? Why haven’t I heard of this guy before?

Heartbeats

Crosses

Seriously. Awesome!

Singing The Dictionary

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Because this was necessary. I love it when people do entirely random stuff like this. It’s what makes the world go ’round. That and milkshakes.

The Smashing Pumpkins

Monday, May 14th, 2007

The Smashing Pumpkins have been around longer than I have. They recently reunited in 2005, after 6 years of disbandment, and have begun releasing tour dates for 2007. Pretty sweet stuff.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the future of the band that brought us:

Favorite TV Show Theme Songs

Friday, May 11th, 2007

Some TV shows rock. Some TV shows don’t. A common factor among the TV shows that rock is a great theme song that invokes all of the emotions that encapsulate the show itself. Here are a few of my favorite picks for best TV Show Themes.

The Office

Scrubs

Smallville

Maroon 5 (Just a tad bit better than the Purple 4)

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Maroon 5 first crooned its way onto the pop music scene in 2002 with their debut album “Songs About Jane”. Unlike anything else popular at that time, Maroon 5 captured my attention then and I still enjoy almost all of their singles and songs. It’s time for something new, though, and their latest album “Makes Me Wonder” struggles to find a life of its own; to breathe a bit of fresh air into the same style of music. I think Maroon 5’s succeeded in this sense, and apparently a lot of other people do too, because it’s Number 1 on the Billboard Singles Chart this week, coming up from Number 64 last week. Quite a jump, but definitely anticipated for the band that went triple platinum with its debut alone…

Latest Videos

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

Here are some of the latest and uhh… ‘greatest’ that the music video scene has to offer. Rejoice! Lil Scrappy is here, along with Shakira!

Lil Scrappy - Livin’ In The Projects

Shakira - Las De La Intuicion

Mandy Moore - Extraordinary

Bobby Valentino - Anonymous

Sorry, slow news day, will be back with much more greater awesomer stuff tomorrow.

Avril Lavigne - Apparently A Linguist

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Avril Lavigne recorded her latest single “Girlfriend” in eight languages, because just one definitely wasn’t enough. Too bad the verses aren’t translated…

And what do you mean the phrase “I’m the motherf***** princess” doesn’t translate?!?

I thought that was common knowledge in Japanese/French/German etc. etc.

Here are some samples. Really, it’s pretty cool stuff.

Chinese

French

Spanish

German

ABC’s of Beatboxing

Monday, May 7th, 2007

Mad skills. I think beatboxing should become a professional sport. Much more entertaining than like… golf. This guy alone gave me more enjoyment than all of the time put together that I’ve spent looking at golf related stuff, from matches to golf clubs. I’m actually kind of sad that golf is a sport now.
