7. Rise Against - To Them These Streets Belong

6. Finch - Three Simple Words

5. Audioslave - Cochise

4. Silverstein - Three Hours Back

3. Breaking Benjamin - Blow Me Away

2. Drowning Pool - Let The Bodies Hit The Floor!

1. Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

Top 10 Songs To Get It On To.

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Oh, but these are some pretty awesome songs to get it on to. Not that I’ve ever gotten it on. Nor listened to any of these songs. *shifty eyes*

10. Animals by Nickelback. Don’t even try to deny it: you’ve seen yourself in the same ‘position’ as the lead singer before.

9. Inside of You by Hoobastank. Lesser known, but uh… the title is pretty self-explanatory.

8. Du Hast by Rammstein. As quoted by a friend: “It sounds like some sort of weird sex song!” Yes, yes it does.

7. Dreamweaver by Kansas. You know you want it!

6. American Woman as performed by Lenny Kravitz. Yeah, American women.

5.This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole. Or it might be a one night stand. Regardless, this song is some kind of wonderful.

4. Afternoon Delight as performed by Will Ferrell in Anchorman. Up for a little afternoon delight?

3. We Are The Champions by Queen. You know you’ve always wanted to. Or is that just me?

2. Scotty Doesn’t Know by Lustra. Apt particularly if you’re getting it on with someone that you shouldn’t be. Aheh. Not that you’d ever do something like that.

1. Let’s Get it On by Marvin Gaye. Was there ever any doubt?

10 Songs to Dance to on The Road

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Everyone loves to dance while in the car. Or, well, at least I do. So here are 10 songs guaranteed to turn heads.

10) Ridin’ Dirty - Chamillionaire. What better than a song about ridin’, though I should hope you aren’t ridin’ dirty.

9) Animals - Nickelback. Though this song implies other things than riding in the car. Wait. That’s an interesting choice of words, isn’t it.

8) The William Tell Overture - Even better if you have a car with a loose suspension and can get it to bounce like you’re in a cavalry charge.

7) Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd. There is no better song to soar down the highway to.

6) Paradise City - Guns & Roses. Hell yes.

5) Axel F - Crazy Frog. Bonus points for blaring it at a stoplight on a hot day when everyone’s got their windows down.

4) My Way or The Highway - Limp Bizkit. In this case, probably the highway. This one makes for interesting stares as you look angry at yourself in your rear view mirror.

3) Numa Numa - O-Zone. Bonus points for dancing like this guy:

2) Chain Hang Low - Young Jibbs. Lawl.

1) Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen. Wayne’s world style, what?

My Top 10 Rock Albums

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

I love these albums. There is nothing that can come between me and these albums. I could literally live off the pure rock and roll that is contained within these discs.

That said, this isn’t an ‘of all time’ thing. These are all personal preferences. While I did take into account some of the staying power that many of these bands had with these albums, some of them have yet to suffer the test of time.

1. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin. Was there ever any doubt that Stairway to Heaven alone might have carried this album to the top of my list?

2. The Beatles - Abbey Road. An album that speaks for itself in every way. I’m also going to throw in an honorable mention for the White Album, which didn’t quite make my list for some reason…

3. Rise Against - The Sufferer and the Witness. Time will tell if this album will stand against all others, but it is definitely one of the greatest of this era.

4. Guns and Roses - Appetite for Destruction. Screaming rock, a CD full of singles that no-one will ever forget.

5. Nirvana - Nevermind. Introduced an entire generation to grunge. Probably played by me a million times.

6. Better Than Ezra - Before the Robots. A band that deserves far more attention than they get, their latest album streamlines their best sound into a great album.

7. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle Vol. 1. What an album, it just blew my mind when I first heard it, and it IS what 1968 was. This music is the music of my parent’s generation, and the way that it captures it is simply unbelievable.

8. Death Cab for Cutie - Plans. Be afraid all you mainstream bands with a plastic sound and hollow lyrics, Death Cab is here to stay.

9. Goo Goo Dolls - Gutterflower. One of my favorite bands ever, with an album that spawned seemingly endless singles.

10. Oasis - (What’s the Story) Morning Glory. An album that captured my continuous attention for several months straight, it also was the best album that Oasis ever cracked out. In my opinion, of course.

7.

Top 10 Feel-Good Songs

Friday, December 8th, 2006

The Pink Spiders’ Teenage Graffiti has put me in the mood to spread some general cheer.

These are 10 songs that are quite nearly guaranteed to have you in a chipper mood by the end of the set.

10. Some Postman - Presidents of the United States

A song about lost love letters to nosy deliverymen.

9. Three Light Years And a Day - PJ Ollson

Happy-go-lucky song cheering on a long distance relationship.

8. Around the World - ATC

Possibly one of the most well known dance songs, great for parties!

7. Crooked Teeth - Death Cab For Cutie

Off of Plans, one of the greatest CDs I’ve ever heard, this song just soars.

6. Big Machine - Goo Goo Dolls

The Goo Goo Dolls are one of my favourite bands of all time, and they get a special nod from this song off their album Gutterflower.

5. Feeling This - Blink-182

I’m definitely feeling this- good that is.

4. Longview - Greenday

Rock on, if no other song can get you nodding your head, this one will.

3. Unwell - Matchbox Twenty

Though the name would have you believe otherwise, it’s a mellow boost to anyone’s happiness. The subtly just gets me.

2. Closing Time - Semisonic

Another quiet song, Closing Time seems inherently hopeful, glancing into an uncertain future.

1. Shopping- Barenaked Ladies

This is quite literally the happiest song I’ve ever heard, and if you aren’t grinning by the end, then you really have no soul.
