My Top 10 Rock Albums

by Dana

I love these albums. There is nothing that can come between me and these albums. I could literally live off the pure rock and roll that is contained within these discs.

That said, this isn’t an ‘of all time’ thing. These are all personal preferences. While I did take into account some of the staying power that many of these bands had with these albums, some of them have yet to suffer the test of time.

1. Led Zeppelin IV - Led Zeppelin. Was there ever any doubt that Stairway to Heaven alone might have carried this album to the top of my list?

2. The Beatles - Abbey Road. An album that speaks for itself in every way. I’m also going to throw in an honorable mention for the White Album, which didn’t quite make my list for some reason…

3. Rise Against - The Sufferer and the Witness. Time will tell if this album will stand against all others, but it is definitely one of the greatest of this era.

4. Guns and Roses - Appetite for Destruction. Screaming rock, a CD full of singles that no-one will ever forget.

5. Nirvana - Nevermind. Introduced an entire generation to grunge. Probably played by me a million times.

6. Better Than Ezra - Before the Robots. A band that deserves far more attention than they get, their latest album streamlines their best sound into a great album.

7. Creedence Clearwater Revival - Chronicle Vol. 1. What an album, it just blew my mind when I first heard it, and it IS what 1968 was. This music is the music of my parent’s generation, and the way that it captures it is simply unbelievable.

8. Death Cab for Cutie - Plans. Be afraid all you mainstream bands with a plastic sound and hollow lyrics, Death Cab is here to stay.

9. Goo Goo Dolls - Gutterflower. One of my favorite bands ever, with an album that spawned seemingly endless singles.

10. Oasis - (What’s the Story) Morning Glory. An album that captured my continuous attention for several months straight, it also was the best album that Oasis ever cracked out. In my opinion, of course.

7.
