We Shall Overcome - In Memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr Day. Even nearly forty years after his death, Dr. King’s message of tolerance remains just as important and potent in today’s society.
Remembrance of this day couldn’t be as significant as it is without the music that epitomizes the Civil Rights Movement. Songs like this “We Shall Overcome” revive that spirit in all of us, and give us the slightest taste of that age when rights that we take for granted were non-existent.
Remember. And then maybe someday, everyone, everyone on the entire planet can say those words that Dr. King spoke four decades ago: “Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty we are free at last.”
